Only Hollywood could make a movie about "a great mind" and then "stupefied" it for the general public. This movie truely sucks. Russell Crowe is a great talent, but what the hell happened here? A genius from Virginia with an aussie accent? C'mon Russell, do some homework would you. This formulated piece of mindless waste is just one cliche' after another. I don't care what the golden globe said or what the academy will say later. Now, Ron Howard has always been a not too good to just OK director. And he will never rise above just OK. That's all you can expect from someone who grew up in Hollywood. Granted Opey was cute but geez, stop torturing us with these bad movies hehe. If I had known that this movie was directed by Ron Howard I wouldn't have wasted my time and money. I went to see Russell Crowe act, and saw none. He's still a good actor in my book though, just got grossly mis-casted in this one. Now let's talk about Ed Harris. Ed Harris is...well...Ed Harris. The guy is just a cool character no matter what movie he is in, good or bad. If you want to see a great performance by Ed Harris, I recommend renting "Pollock", starring and directed by Ed Harris himself. And if you want to see a good movie about a great mind, watch "The Luzhin Defense", starring the great John Tuturo and Emily Watson.
